The «Ylym» publishing house published a 120-page book dedicated to the long-term study of the literary heritage of Anew poets and the study of new handwritten sources of folk art. The author of the publication is Doctor of Philology, chief researcher at the Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts named after Magtymguly of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan Gurbangul Guzychyyeva. The publication of the book is also timed to coincide with events dedicated to the announcement of the capital of the Ahal velayat, the city of Anew, as the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2024.
An extensive introduction provides historical information about the various stages of the development of Anew, the etymology of the historical names of this ancient center of agricultural culture, the archaeological excavations carried out here and the study of the found monuments of the Neolithic epoch, as a result of which the concept of «Anew culture» appeared in science. The book also includes selected works of Turkmen poets who lived and worked on the land of Anew in the middle and second half of the 19th century. Among them are about 40 poems by Dosmammet, six poems by Durda-bakhshi, two poems by Zahidi, two by Ysmayyl, three by Sahetjemal and one poem by the poet Hojahan.
These are both poems already known to literary scholars and readers, and works published for the first time. They reflect such universal human values as unity, peace, love and devotion to the Fatherland and one’s people, as well as themes of friendship, love, morality and decency.
The publication also presents the original folk art of Anew, in particular, songs that were performed at that celebrations. New data about this layer of folk culture was obtained by the author based on a study of sources stored in the manuscript collection of the Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts named after Magtymguly.
The book has been prepared for a wide readership and is already available in libraries, including the Central Scientific Library of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan.
