The Ombudsman of Turkmenistan approved the «Strategic Plan of the Office of the Ombudsman of Turkmenistan for 2024-2028». The document is based on national legislation, adopted and successfully implemented programs and plans in various areas of human rights, recommendations of international experts and the accumulated experience of the Ombudsman's Office.

The plan aims to further strengthen the institutional capacity of the Apparatus, increase the number of personnel and budgetary resources necessary to create regional offices in the velayats and expand programs and activities. It is also expected to be an important step aimed at strengthening the technical capacity, efficiency and effectiveness of the Office, which is seeking accreditation from the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions.

The new document will be implemented through annual events with a detailed allocation of resources and specific measures that will be implemented to achieve strategic results. It also includes a monitoring and evaluation mechanism. In addition, to achieve the strategic priorities outlined in the plan, actions are identified that should lead to the expected long-term results.

The plan includes four high-level priority areas. Three of them are aimed at external activities, and one is aimed at the internal work of the Ombudsman's Office.
