From April 1 to 3, this year, the European Union-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia conducted a technical assistance session in Ashgabat to develop standard operational procedures for phytosanitary and veterinary import controls.
The event was attended by representatives of ministries and agencies responsible for developing and implementing import control measures in Turkmenistan. The workshop was dedicated to the application of modern methods and tools in phytosanitary and veterinary control of the movement of goods and cargo.
EU experts, in collaboration with national specialists, worked on development of common standard operating procedures for inspectors who will apply them during practical inspections of goods. The workshop was organized as part of Component 3 of the Border Management Programme in Central Asia, "Facilitation of Trade," which aims to further support the process of regional economic integration.
