The Turkmenistan 2024 football championship, which starts on March 3, will be held in four rounds.

The national trophy will be competed by 9 teams. Three clubs – “Altyn Asyr”, “Ashgabat” and “Kopetdag” represent the capital. “Nebitchi” from Balkanabat and “Shagadam” from Turkmenbashi are Balkan velayat, “Merv” and “Energetik” are from Mary velayat, “Ahal” is from Ahal velayat, and “Arkadag” is the city of the same name of national importance.

Let us recall that in 2023 the Turkmenistan football championship was held in three rounds with the participation of 9 teams. The winner for the first time was the Arkadag team. The silver medals of the national championship were won by the capital's Altyn Asyr for the second year in a row, and the bronze medals by the Balkanabat Nebitchi for the 7th time.

Ahal forward Elman Tagaev was recognized as the best football player of Turkmenistan last season. And in the dispute between scorers, Arkadag forward Didar Durdyev took the lead with 27 goals scored.

Following the results of last year’s national championship, the Altyn Asyr club was awarded the fair play prize, established by the Football Federation of Turkmenistan and awarded to the team with the best disciplinary performance.
