Turkmenistan discusses public health capacity building

A delegation of representatives from the U.S Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) visited Turkmenistan. The delegation was led by the Director of the Central Asia Global Health Security Program.

The guests held meetings with representatives of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, the Center for Public Health and Nutrition, and the M. Garryev Turkmen State Medical University.

The first CDC office in Central Asia was established in Kazakhstan in 1995, and currently, CDC has country offices in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

The CDC collaborates with the governments of host countries to strengthen emergency management in public health, laboratory capacity, surveillance and workforce capacity to respond to disease outbreaks.
