A series of phygital sports tournaments starts in Ashgabat

Today, the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports is launching a series of tournaments on phygital sports and an Open Doors Week.

The term "phygital" consists of two words - physical and digital, meaning the combination of real and virtual. In the context of sports, it refers to a dual competition where the same team competes first in a real sport and then in a cyber-sports game similar to that sport.

The competitions, in which teams from universities and secondary schools of the capital will participate, will be held in four disciplines - phygital football, phygital basketball, phygital table tennis and phygital karate-do.

Competitions in phygital football, phygital basketball and phygital table tennis will take place in the multifunctional sports complex of the Faculty of Olympic Sports, while the phygital karate-do will take place in another sports complex of the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports, where all necessary conditions have been created for the competitions.

The phygital sports tournaments and the Open Doors Week, which include an exhibition and a scientific-practical conference on "Innovative Technologies in Science, Education and Sports", will end on April 6.

Phygital sports are taking their first steps in Turkmenistan. In February of this year, a team of our country, including representatives of the the Oguz Han Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan, participated in phygital football and phygital basketball matches as part of the first multi-sport "Games of the Future" held in Kazan.
