Turkmenabat hosted a Turkmen-Uzbek training for members of the Port Control Units

The Lebap velayat Customs in Turkmenabat hosted a sub-regional training to enhance the qualifications of members of the Port Control Units (PCUs) of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

The seminar was organized within the framework of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime's Global Programme and the World Customs Organization Container Control Programme.

The training was conducted by Svetlan Savov, World Customs Organization expert.

Its aim was to enhance the knowledge of PCU members in the areas of profiling and targeting high-risk cargo, detecting illegal shipments and verifying documents and cargo.

Participants familiarized themselves with the provisions of the Customs Convention on Containers 1972, the intellectual property rights from the customs perspective, and the WCO ContainerCOMM platform for secure information exchange.

During the practical part, participants practiced the acquired knowledge in targeting and controlling documentation, profiling based on targeting, physically inspecting selected cargo for inspection, and exchanging preliminary data on specific cargo with partner PCUs.
