Specialists of the land resources service of Turkmenistan participate in training on the operation of GNSS equipment

Within the framework of the UNDP project «Conservation and sustainable management of land resources and ecosystems of high natural value in the Aral Sea Basin» and the project «Integrated management of natural resources in drought- and salinity-prone agricultural landscapes of Central Asia and Türkiye, implemented jointly with the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan, On the 2nd to 6th of  April, practical training is being held with the participation of international specialists on the use of Global Navigation Satellite System equipment.

The training is aimed at training specialists from the land resources service of the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan in the effective use of previously purchased equipment. Specialists from the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the Land Resources Service of all five velayats and specialized universities of the country were invited to participate in the training. The training is conducted by international specialists in the management and use of equipment Alexander Dianov and Ramil Yunusov.

The training consists of a theoretical part, an introductory lesson that took place at the UN building in Ashgabat, and a practical part, which will be conducted in the field in the Ak Bugday etrap of Ahal velayat.

During the theoretical part, participants were provided with general information about the basics of geodesy and cartography, about world navigation systems and their development. A set of technical issues related to the design, operation and software of the equipment is considered.

The practical part of the training includes a detailed study of the installation, configuration and maintenance of receivers, routers, performing various measurements and specific tasks for the course. Field work includes an interactive session with answers to questions from participants and their final testing.
