The Library named after Magtymguly in Kyiv hosted a presentation of books by Nikolay Vaskiv, professor of the capital’s University named after Boris Grinchenko, dedicated to the creative heritage and extraordinary personality of the master of poetic word and philosophical thought Magtymguly Fragi.

The cultural and educational event, organized in the year of celebration of the 300th anniversary of the Turkmen poet and philosopher, was attended by students of grades 8-10 of secondary school № 235 named after V. Chernovol, library staff, diplomatic staff of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Ukraine and Turkmen youth. This was reported by the press service of the Turkmen diplomatic mission.

Nikolay Vaskiv has been studying and popularizing in Ukraine and abroad the work of the brilliant poet Magtymguly Fragi for many years, as well as Turkmen literature, culture and Turkmen-Ukrainian cultural relations. His articles are published in scientific journals and collections of Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Poland, Türkiye, and Azerbaijan.

At a meeting in the library, the author presented two unique publications published in Ukraine in 2019: the monograph «Magtymguly Pyragy (Magtymguly Fragi): a literary portrait» and a complete collection of translations of poems into Ukrainian «Magtymguly Pyragy. Look at everything, think about everything...»

The first book sets out the facts of the poet’s biography and the legends associated with him, reveals the richness and originality of the images of poetic lyrics, and talks about the traditions and innovation of his creative heritage. The monograph summarizes information about the publication of translations of Magtymguly's poetry in Ukraine, about the works of Ukrainian writers dedicated to the outstanding Turkmen poet, about the research of his creative heritage by Ukrainian scientists.

The second edition is a complete collection of translations of poems into Ukrainian, in which Nikolai Vaskiv organized Magtymguly’s poems translated by famous Ukrainian poets, writers, translators of the 19th century and our contemporaries. The preface to the publication notes the place and role of Magtymguly in national and world culture, analyzes the perfect style of the founder of Turkmen classical literature, emphasizes his nationwide popularity, draws analogies with the work and merits of Ukrainian geniuses Taras Shevchenko and Grigoriy Skovoroda.

According to the author, in the year of celebrating the 300th anniversary of the poet and sage Magtymguly Fragi, these books are increasingly in demand among readers. And in general, the attention of literature and poetry admirers around the world is focused in the anniversary year on the Turkmen genius and his poetry, filled with sincere love for the people, the kindest instructions, and deep patriotic and lyrical motives.
