Speaking at the conference Promoting Peace: «Implementing Strategies to Strengthen Trust Between Countries» on the 11^th of April, the head of the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat, John McGregor, said that the OSCE supports Turkmenistan’s efforts to perpetuate the legacy of the great poet and philosopher of the East Magtymguly Fragi, in whose work the principles of humanism, peace, mutual understanding and good neighbourliness, which are the priorities of the OSCE and Turkmenistan.

As noted, as part of joint efforts to strengthen peace and cooperation, promote a culture of trusting dialogue between the states of Turkmenistan and the OSCE, necessary measures have been taken to popularize the creative heritage of Magtymguly Fragi in the world in the year of the 300^th anniversary of his birth. This is further evidence that the anniversary of the great son of the Turkmen people is widely celebrated not only in many countries of the world, but also by major international organizations that recognize the universal cultural and humanistic value of his work.

As you know, in May last year, the UNESCO Executive Council decided to include the collection of manuscripts of Magtymguly Fragi in the international Memory of the World list. The celebration of the 300^th anniversary of the birth of the Turkmen classical poet and thinker Magtymguly Fragi is included in the List of significant dates for joint celebration with UNESCO in 2024-2025.

The Permanent Council of the International Organization of Turkic Culture declared 2024 «The Year of the Great Poet and Philosopher of the Turkic World Magtymguly Fragi» and planned a number of events aimed at studying and popularizing his creative heritage in the world.

Speaking earlier this year at the fourth meeting of the Coordination Committee of the Organization of Turkic States with the participation of the Parliamentary Assembly of Türkiye, the International Turkic Academy, the International Organization of Turkic Culture and the International Foundation for Turkic Culture and Heritage, the head of TURKSOY invited each of the organizations represented at the meeting to take part in various events , organized within the framework of the Year of Magtymguly Fragi.
