On April 18-20, Turkmenabat hosted the final round of competitions among students of secondary schools and special units of young firefighters. Seven teams from all velayats of the country, Ashgabat and Arkadag city competed in the event.
A concert by cultural figures and masters of art of the velayat was held during the opening ceremony of the competition.
In order to instill qualities such as patriotism, determination, courage, and to teach them fire safety skills, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Education systematically organize competitions in fire-applied sports among students of secondary schools of the country. In order to allow all interested participants from all corners of the country to take part in the competitions, preliminary qualifying rounds are held in the velayats and etraps, and the winners are given the opportunity to participate in the final round.
After the completion of the ceremonial march of the personnel of the Fire Safety Department of the Police Administration of Lebap velayat and the participants of the competition, the competitions began.
The teams, consisting of five participants each, competed in two disciplines:
- 100-meter obstacle race with the use of firefighting equipment;
- 400-meter relay race with the use of firefighting equipment.
According to the results of the competition, first place was taken by the team of students from School No. 24 in Dashoguz city, while the teams from School No. 17 in Sakarchage etrap of Mary velayat and School No. 18 in Dyanev etrap of Lebap velayat took second and third places respectively. All the winners were awarded special diplomas and received gifts from public organizations in a festive atmosphere.
