On April 23, Turkey celebrates the national holidays of National Sovereignty and Children's Day. To honor these events, a children's festival called "Hopes of a Green Future" was held on the territory of the Joint Turkmen-Turkish School, organized in cooperation with the Turkish Embassy in Turkmenistan and the "Ýaş Tebigatçy" Public Organization.

Schoolchildren performed Turkish and Turkmen folk dances in traditional costumes at the festive opening ceremony. The performances by jugglers, magicians and puppets were a pleasant surprise for the children. The most active kids could participate in various contests and games.

According to representatives of the "Ýaş Tebigatçy" Public Organization, the holiday should not only be spectacular but also educational. Therefore, as part of the International Day of Zero Waste celebrated on March 30, a program was prepared for the younger generation aimed at developing environmental literacy and expanding knowledge about proper behavior in nature.

An eco-quest with intellectual and practical tasks aroused great interest among schoolchildren. Divided into teams, participants solved environmental problems – learned to conserve water, sort household waste, and deciphered rebuses about plants and the world around them. Players who successfully completed the quest were awarded prizes.

Additionally, an exhibition of handicrafts made from recycled materials was held at the festival venue. Many original works were submitted to the contest previously announced by the "Ýaş Tebigatçy" Public Organization, including handmade products by Mukhabat Berdiyeva.

"I came from the city of Mary specifically to participate in this festival," says the craftswoman. "There is never any waste left in my house, as in the creative process I can find a use for anything. For instance, cardboard is a good material for making decorated boxes, and any button can become an effective detail in the design of decorative and applied art objects in the steampunk style".

The contest entries were evaluated for creativity, functionality and environmental friendliness. All participants of the handicraft contest received certificates from the "Ýaş Tebigatçy" Public Organization and symbolic gifts.
