A seminar was dedicated to the sustainable management of pasture resources, which was held within the framework of the project of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan and the United Nations Development Program «Conservation and sustainable management of land resources and ecosystems of high natural value in the Aral Sea basin for multiple benefits».

The participants of the seminar were representatives of the State Committee of Water Resources of Turkmenistan, the hakimlik of the Dashoguz Velayat, the hakimlik of the Ruhubelent etrap and the S.Turkmenbashy etrap, the «Dowadarçylyk» livestock farm, the «Daşoguzörisuw» repair and construction enterprise, public organizations, as well as local farmers.

The participants discussed the importance of conducting geobotanical studies in a comprehensive inventory of pastures, the role of specially protected natural areas and types of possible agricultural activities in the buffer zones of these territories.

They also got acquainted with the national legislation in the field of management and regulation of pasture resources.

In addition, the seminar presented a concept for the introduction of rational pasture management at the pilot site in the Ruhubelent etrap of the Dashoguz Velayat.

Within the framework of the seminar, presentations were made by specialists from the Gaplangyr State Nature Reserve of Turkmenistan, the National Institute of Flora and Fauna, specialists from the ISCAUSR-2 (FAO) and Aral projects.
