Within the framework of the "European Union - Turkmenistan: Sustainable Energy Days " campaign, School No. 10 of Turkmenbashi city in Balkan velayat was recognized as the most energy-efficient among the general education schools of the city.
The award ceremony was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, the administration of Turkmenbashi city, school teachers, students, parents, staff of the EU Delegation to Turkmenistan and the United Nations Development Programme in Turkmenistan.
As EU Ambassador to Turkmenistan Beata Peksa noted in her speech, this award recognizes the invaluable contribution of teachers to the development of children's skills in the careful and rational use of natural resources, as well as the protection of the environment and the planet.
The award ceremony was followed by a lecture on the topic "Nature - Our Common Home", sports competitions and a bicycle race to promote environmentally friendly modes of transport, as well as a tree planting campaign.
The "European Union - Turkmenistan: Sustainable Energy Days" campaign in Ashgabat and Turkmenbashi is aimed at raising public awareness, including among youth and schoolchildren, about energy efficiency and renewable energy sources.
The organizers of the campaign are the European Union project "Sustainable Energy Connectivity in Central Asia (SECCA)", the United Nations Development Programme project "Sustainable Cities in Turkmenistan: Integrated Green Urban Development in Ashgabat and Avaza", as well as the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and the administration of Turkmenbashi city.
