These days, conferences, exhibitions, thematic meetings and other festive events are held in all corners of the country in honor of the Constitution Day and the National Flag of Turkmenistan, celebrated on the 18th of May. One of these events was organized in the city of Arkadag by the city council of the Youth Organization of Turkmenistan named after Magtymguly. The festive meeting entitled «Türkmenistanyň Konstitusiýasy we döwlet baýdagy – halkymyzyň mizemez gymmatlygy», which took place in the conference hall of the city library named after Dovletmammet Azady, was attended by students studying in educational institutions of the city and young people working in enterprises of the city of Arkadag.
At the meeting, a Mejlis deputy and young activists spoke about the history of the creation of the State Flag, the meaning of its colours and symbols, which testify to the commitment of the people of Turkmenistan to the ideals of peace and neutrality, friendship and freedom, as well as their unity and cohesion. The speakers also noted that the principles of national statehood, traditional people's democracy and universal democratic norms are united in the Constitution of Turkmenistan, which proclaims man as the highest value of society and the state.
Both the State Flag, which depicts olive branches, and the Constitution of Turkmenistan, which in its second article establishes the status of permanent neutrality recognized by the world community, testify to the country’s peace-loving and creative policy. In accordance with the theme of the event, it was emphasized that these main state symbols of the country are the fundamental values of the people, and the holiday dedicated to them is of great importance for the consolidation of society and the patriotic education of youth.
