Gender Advisor of the UN Children's Fund for the Eastern Europe and Central Asia region Shiba Harma gave a lecture at the Training and Methodological Centre at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The event took place as part of the advisor’s technical mission to Turkmenistan. The lecture focused on the topic of ensuring gender equality. In this regard, Shiba Harma shared her accumulated experience.

She noted that the empowerment of women and girls plays a critical role in accelerating economic growth and promoting social development in societies.

By adopting the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 goals in 2015, the global community once again reaffirmed its commitment to this critical issue.

In the document, 193 UN Member States committed to achieving sustainable, inclusive and progressive growth, social inclusion and environmental protection, intending to achieve these through partnership and peace.

The 2030 Agenda is a universal document that is transformative and based on human rights principles.
