Festive event dedicated to Turkmen Carpet Day and Ashgabat Day

The Buzmeyin branch of the Centralized Library System of the Ashgabat City Department of Culture and the library of the Institute of Engineering, Technical and Transport Communications of Turkmenistan held a festive event «Türkmen nepis halysy – Ak şähermiziň bezegi» dedicated to the Day of the Turkmen Carpet and the Day of the City of Ashgabat.

Speakers at the meeting spoke about the ancient history of the unique art of Turkmen carpet weaving, carried through centuries and successfully developing today. This is the most important part of the national cultural heritage, and the holiday dedicated to the Turkmen carpet is a vivid example of careful attitude towards its preservation and popularization in the country and the world. As noted, the carpet patterns created by skilled Turkmen craftswomen contain many meanings and symbols associated with the history, nature and traditions of the people.

Particular attention was paid to the widespread use of gol (ornament) - the main elements of the composition of Turkmen carpets in the artistic design of architectural structures and the overall design of our white marble capital. Suffice it to remind that the Ashgabat airport complex was included in the Guinness Book of Records for the world's largest architectural image of a carpet gol (ornament) on the roof of the main passenger terminal building.

The festive event was decorated with musical performances by students of the Institute of Engineering, Technical and Transport Communications of Turkmenistan.
