A seminar was held at the maritime secondary vocational school in the city of Turkmenbashy on the role of maritime transport in the country’s economy.

Students were informed about the great potential of maritime transport, prospects for the development of transportation of passengers and cargo by sea.

In this regard, students got acquainted with the activities of the «Turkmendenizderyayollary» agency, its subordinate organizations and enterprises in improving the country’s sea port system.

They learned about projects to create national waterways to export domestic products abroad. The international seaport of Turkmenbashy, located at the intersection of shipping routes from Europe to Asia and back, serves as the «sea gateway» of the region.

Under the leadership of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, state supervision over the safety of navigation, preservation of the environment of the Caspian Sea is being improved, and the legislative framework in this area is being strengthened.
