The World Health Organization (WHO) Country Office in Turkmenistan, in collaboration with the WHO Regional Office for Europe, conducted a training course on ship sanitation inspection and issuance of ship sanitation certificates.
This event is part of the implementation of the WHO project to strengthen national capacity within as part of the One Health Framework for Action to enhance the quality of healthcare services in Central Asia.
It aims to improve public health at the International Seaport of Turkmenbashi and on ships in Turkmenistan.
Among the course participants were representatives from the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, the Agency "Turkmendenizderyayollary," the State Veterinary Service, the State Plant Quarantine Service, the International Seaport of Turkmenbashi, and other specialists competent in this field.
Entry points such as airports, ports and land transport hubs play a crucial role in preventing, detecting and responding to public health events that may arise due to international travel and trade.
As a long-term plan and investment concept, the Action Framework provides for interaction between various sectors to effectively implement the One Health approach.
The program highlights three priority areas: combating zoonotic infections, preventing antimicrobial resistance and ensuring food safety.
