The development of the international route CASCA+ was discussed

Representatives of Turkmenistan took part in the next meeting of railway operators of the countries participating in the international multimodal route CASCA+, held on the 28th to 29th of May in Tashkent. Together with representatives of the railway administrations of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Türkiye, they discussed projects aimed at developing the CASCA+ transport and transit corridor.

The meeting participants discussed the Uzbek side’s proposal to create a consortium with the participation of operators to coordinate activities and improve the efficiency of the CASCA+ transport corridor, as well as the development of a digital platform to track containers along the route and increase the activity of the corridor site. In addition, at the meeting it was proposed to establish transportation of perishable products such as fruits and vegetables in refrigerated containers along the CASCA+ corridor. CASCA+ is a joint initiative of the state railways of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Türkiye and Uzbekistan.

Currently, this route covers three regions - Central Asia, the South Caucasus and Anatolia. The «+» sign in its name indicates a willingness to accept new potential participants interested in transportation along the route, the ultimate goal of which is to connect the states of Southeast Asia, in particular China, with Europe.
