On the eve of World Environment Day, which is celebrated annually on the 5th of June, the United Nations Development Program in Turkmenistan held a meeting with the country's students.
UNDP specialists spoke about the role of the younger generation in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals to achieve the 2030 Agenda. In particular, how the contribution of young people will help in the fight against climate change, they noted the importance of rational waste management. The youth were also informed about the results of the project to introduce innovative technologies for energy efficiency in the electricity industry.
The meeting was organized as part of a series of educational sessions «TurkmenYouth4SDGs», which were launched by the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan together with UNDP in Turkmenistan. These sessions are aimed at involving the country's students in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
