Nesil Children's Health Center held an event on national handicrafts

The summer season of children's recreation that has started in Turkmenistan is a time for strengthening health, interesting and educational entertainment, and developing the physical and creative abilities of the country's younger generation.

In the first days of the summer holidays, the B. Amanov State Children's Library of Turkmenistan organized a creative event called "El hünäri – il gezer" about the art of national handicrafts passed down from generation to generation at the "Nesil" children's health center, where children from the capital and the entire Akhal velayat rest.

During the conversation with girls who are acquiring traditional handicraft skills from their mothers and grandmothers, they discussed the graceful and beautiful women's crafts, their features, the tools used in making handmade products – such as needles, thimbles and scissors – methods of spinning silk threads, and the meanings embedded in various ornaments. The girls also demonstrated their skills in national handicrafts.

A special impression on the participants was made by the exhibition of handmade products. An honorable place in the exposition was also taken by books by Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov dedicated to the high art of Turkmen carpet weaving, "Janly rowaýat" ("Living Legend") and "Arşyň nepisligi" ("Heavenly Beauty"), as well as various publications on handicrafts.
