Prospects of tourism cooperation between NTZ Avaza and Khorezm are being studied

Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan explore the possibility of developing a cooperation program between "Avaza" National Tourist Zone and Khorezm region. The initiative was discussed on the sidelines of the 12th session of the Islamic Conference of Tourism Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member countries, which concluded in Khiva. Khiva has been declared the tourism capital of the Islamic world for 2024.

The Turkmen delegation at the event was led by the country's Minister of Culture Atageldi Shamyradov. This cooperation program involves organizing mutual trips between the "Avaza" National Tourist Zone and the Khorezm region. The 12th session of the Islamic Conference of Tourism Ministers of the OIC was held under the theme "Development of the Tourism Industry in a Sustainable and Resilient Way."

The conference was attended by the Secretary-General of the OIC Hussein Ibrahim Taha, the Secretary-General of the Economic Cooperation Organization Khusrav Noziri, the Director-General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization Salim AlMalik, tourism ministers of 57 member countries and representatives of several international organizations.

Resolutions aimed at developing pilgrimage, medical, and ecological tourism were adopted at the 12th session of the Islamic Conference of Tourism Ministers.
