Archery Masters from Turkmenistan Win Silver and Two Bronze Medals at the Open Cup of Belarus

Turkmen sportsmen won one silver and two bronze medals at the Open Belarusian Archery Cup held in Minsk.

Prizes in the team and individual events were contested by 129 athletes from seven countries: Belarus, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

In our team, which was represented by 9 athletes, the winner of the silver medal in the individual competition was Ezizmuhammet Sahedov, a student of the 27th secondary school of Ashgabat.

Ezizmuhammet won another medal – a bronze one – in team competitions together with a student of the Turkmen State University named after Magtymguly, Bahbit Gurbanov, and an employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan, Shohrat Jumagulyyev.

The second bronze medal for our country was won in the team competition among women by a student of the 27th secondary school of Ashgabat Aysha Annamyradova, a sportswoman of the National Archery Federation of Turkmenistan Oksana Gataulina and a coach of the 5th sports school of the Main Department of Physical Culture and Sports of Ashgabat Ogulsuray Kakyshova.

The winner of two medals, Ezizmuhammet, began to be interested in archery at a young age – from the age of 7. And this is understandable. After all, his father is Vepa Sahedov, the chairman of the National Federation of this Olympic sport in Turkmenistan.

A year later, E. Sahedov became the best among his peers at the national championship. Since 2016, he has been the permanent champion of Turkmenistan in his age group.

The collection of 16-year-old Ezizmuhammet also includes medals won at international competitions. In 2017, at a tournament in Antalya (Türkiye), he won gold among archers under 10 years old, and in 2019, at a competition in Istanbul, he won bronze among athletes under 12 years old. Last year, E. Sahedov won a gold medal at the Astana Grand Prix international tournament in Kazakhstan and a bronze medalist at the II CIS Games in Belarus.

The talented archer's immediate plans include participation in the VIII International Sports Games «Children of Asia», which will be held from the 25th of June to 7th of July, 2024 in Yakutsk. At the previous complex competitions, which were held in 2022 in Vladivostok, Ezizmuhammet Sahedov took 4th place.
