Kurash masters from Turkmenistan won 11 medals at the Asian Championship in Iran

11 medals were won by Turkmen athletes at the 13th Asian Kurash Championship held in the capital of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Around 200 wrestlers from 20 countries participated in the competitions, contesting for the titles of the strongest on the continent in various weight categories among men and women.

The Turkmenistan team was represented by 14 athletes, 11 of whom won 1 gold and 10 bronze medals.

The holder of the highest award in our team in the weight category up to 48 kg was Ayshirin Haydarova, a coach at the 2nd Sports School of Charjew etrap of the Main Department of Physical Culture and Sports of Lebap velayat.

Bronze medals in the women's tournament were awarded to: Rozymengli Meymanova (up to 52 kg), an 11th-grade student of the 24th Secondary School of Charjew etrap of Lebap velayat; Nurana Hezretova (up to 63 kg), an 11th-grade student of the 29th Secondary School of Turkmenabat; Sabina Kadyrova (up to 78 kg), an 11th-grade student of the 14th Secondary School of Sayat etrap of Lebap velayat; and Nursoltan Erniyazova (up to 87 kg), an employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan.

In the men's tournament, the third step of the podium was reached by: Serdar Babamyradov (up to 60 kg), a 4th-year student of the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports; Dovlet Hemragulyev (up to 66 kg), a 1st-year student of the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports; Mekan Pardabaev (up to 73 kg), a soldier of military unit No. 20304 of the Ministry of Defense; Dayanch Omirov (up to 81 kg), a physical education teacher at Secondary School No. 22 of Kerki etrap of Lebap velayat; Ylkham Kemalov (up to 90 kg), a student of the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas; and Ishanmyrat Ataev (100 kg), a physical education teacher at the 55th Secondary School of Ashgabat.

The success of our compatriots at the Asian Championship in Tehran is shared by the mentors of the women's and men's national teams, the Honored Coaches of Turkmenistan, Shirin Kubaeva and Dortguly Tejenov. Under their leadership, at last year's World Championship held at the Sports Complex of Martial Arts of the Olympic Village in Ashgabat, Turkmen kurash masters won 15 medals in 15 weight categories – 5 gold, 6 silver and 4 bronze.
