Meeting of the Central Commission for Elections and referendums in Turkmenistan

Today a meeting of the Central Commission for holding elections and referendums in Turkmenistan, where the final election results were announced instead of early retired deputies of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan according to constituencies No. 1 “Garaşsyzlyk”, No. 2 “Bitaraplyk” and No. 6 “Köpetdag” of the city of Ashgabat, which took place on July 7, 2024 of the year. Members of the Central Election Commission took part in it, representatives of working groups created under the Central Election Commission, national observers, media.

As was emphasized during the meeting, the elections were held on principles of alternativeness, publicity and openness, becoming another confirmation of Turkmenistan’s commitment democratic path of development and the course initiated the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and successfully implemented by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, progressive reforms in all areas life of the state and society.

There was high voter turnout. In particular, in elections of deputies of the Mejlis in three electoral districts 79 thousand 121 people who live in territory of these districts, which amounted to 91.32 percent of the total number of those included in the voter lists.

During the meeting, the chairman's report was heard election commission of the city of Ashgabat on the results of the election campaigns. In accordance with the Electoral Code, on based on democratic principles in the past elections in 3-x electoral districts per seat were registered three candidates each. This indicates that the data has been carried out elections on an alternative basis. Thus, according to protocols of election commissions based on voting results were elected 3 members of the national Parliament.

The active work of national observers was noted, monitored the electoral process, as well as confirmed that the elections were held on high organizational level, without significant violations.

As emphasized, thanks to the equipment of all electoral plots using modern means of communication, data in a timely manner sent to the Central Commission for Conducting elections and referendums in Turkmenistan.

At the end of the meeting, its participants stated that the elections were held at a high organizational level, in accordance with the legislation in force in the country and generally accepted norms of international law.

Thus, before the newly elected deputies the national Parliament has an important task - to become active conductors of activities carried out in the country progressive reforms and comprehensive development programs. This means there is a high level of responsibility for the trust placed in compatriots, which the people's representatives will have to justify by concrete deeds.

A number of other issues were also discussed at the meeting of the Central Election Commission organizational issues on which adopted appropriate solutions.
