Two Turkmen crews reached the podium in the off-road competition Rally «Silk Way 2024»

Two Turkmen crews climbed to the podium at the completed 14th international rally raid «Silk Way 2024». The auto marathon took place from 5th to 15th of July across Russia and Mongolia, connecting the Russian cities of Tomsk, Barnaul, Gorno-Altaisk and Kosh-Agach, as well as the Mongolian cities of Khovd, Altai, Bayankhongor, Mandalgobi and Ulaanbaatar.

About a hundred crews from 13 countries took to the start line, once again confirming the status of the international Silk Road Rally as a major transcontinental competition that unites different countries not only in the sporting aspect, but also in the plane of humanitarian and cultural cooperation between states. In total, over 11 days of the race, the crews covered 5,243 kilometers of distance, which also passed through the picturesque Altai Mountains and the sands of the Gobi Desert.

The race was attended by all-terrain vehicles, motorcycles, ATVs, buggies, SUVs, LADA Sport crews, MAZ, KAMAZ, Ural Motorsport, GAZ Raid Sport and others.

Turkmen racing drivers achieved success in the T2 class off-road competition, in which 6 crews competed for prizes. Three of them represented the Automobile Sports Federation of Turkmenistan.

The winners in this discipline with a time of 47 hours 15 minutes 1 second were Russian racing drivers Andrey Sushentsov and Alexander Shanov from the S&A Racing team. They lost 5 hours 9 minutes and 7 seconds to the brothers Merdan and Shohrat Toylyyev, who became silver medalists in a Nissan Patrol car from the «Turkmenavtoulaglary» agency. Merdan acted as a pilot in this race, and Shohrat acted as a navigator. Maksatmyrat Danatarov (pilot) and Didar Orazmedov (navigator), who completed the top three in a Nissan Patrol SUV, were 5 hours 31 minutes and 10 seconds behind the winners. The crew of Meylis Abdullayev and Italmaz Charyyev, who also competed in a Nissan Patrol, finished the race in fifth place.

The Silk Road International Rally project dates back to 2009, for many years uniting not only the regions of the Russian Federation, but also the countries of Eurasia. The race took place in countries such as Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and Turkmenistan.

Let us remind you that the route of the first edition of the rally started in Kazan, passed through Kazakhstan and finished in Ashgabat.
