Farmers of Dashoguz velayat intend to get a record harvest of legumes

Legumes have firmly entered the list of agricultural crops grown in large volumes in Dashoguz velayat. This year, the total area allocated for mung beans amounted to 7,300 hectares.

Farmers in the Akdepe etrap plan to harvest more than two and a half thousand tons of mung beans this fall, while about one and a half thousand tons are expected to be collected in Kunyaurgench and S. Turkmenbashi etraps.

As for another member of this family, a type of bean called noiba, 410 hectares have been allocated for it in the region. The main producers are the Akdepe and Boldumsaz etraps, where, with a yield of 15 centners per hectare, they plan to obtain 180 and 120 tons of valuable products, respectively. In total, the velayat aims to harvest 615 tons of noiba.

As is known, both mung beans and beans can play a significant role in crop rotation. In addition to increasing the production volumes of grain and vegetable protein, they contribute to improving the ameliorative composition and strengthening of the soil.

The maturation periods of these crops, which are suitable for local climatic conditions, allow them to be used as intermediate crops. It should be noted that both mung beans and noiba are traditional plants for these areas, long demanded in local cuisine.
