Turkmenistan boxers won 6 medals at the international youth tournament in Kazakhstan

Turkmen boxers won six medals of various distinctions at the recently concluded international boxing tournament in Aktau, Kazakhstan, held in memory of USSR Master of Sports Bokenbay Saktaganov.

The competition took place at the "Dosan Batyr" sports complex and featured 138 athletes from 12 teams representing Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, the Republic of Karakalpakstan and various cities in Kazakhstan.

The Turkmenistan team was represented by nine boxers, six of whom won one gold, one silver and four bronze medals.

Jeyhun Dovranov, a 12th-grade student of the 1st secondary school in Yolotan etrap, Mary velayat, stood on the top step of the podium in the 54 kg weight category and was also awarded the special prize for "Most Technical Boxer of the Tournament."

The silver medalist was Meylis Shadurdyev (57 kg), a 12th-grade student of the 32nd secondary school in Ashgabat, while the bronze medalists were: Hangeldi Lukmanov (48 kg), a 10th-grade student of secondary school No. 52 in Ashgabat; Mekan Sabirov (60 kg), a 12th-grade student of secondary school No. 82 in Ashgabat; Annageldi Jumamyradov (63.5 kg), a 12th-grade student of the 2nd secondary school in the village of Gushly, Bayramaly etrap, Mary velayat; and Atageldi Seyidov (67 kg), a 12th-grade student of the 57th secondary school in Boldumsaz etrap, Dashoguz velayat.

The Turkmen boxers competed under the guidance of Maksud Sheripov, senior coach of the Turkmenistan youth team, and Tenilbek Jumakulov, head coach of the national team, with referee Timur Khalilov representing the Turkmen judging panel.

For the young boxers, the tournament in Kazakhstan was a good test of strength ahead of the Asian Youth and Junior Championships, which will begin on August 27 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and will continue until September 10.
