Starting August 12, a five-day training session is being conducted for employees of the "Türkmendeňizderýaýollary" agency to enhance the qualifications of maritime personnel.

The training is aimed at increasing the professionalism of Turkmen sailors and improving the safety of maritime navigation in the region. During practical sessions, participants reinforce their knowledge of safety measures in various situations, the use of rescue equipment, and the provision of first aid.

Updating knowledge and skills will enable specialists to perform their duties more effectively and contribute to the further development of the maritime industry in Turkmenistan.

The event is organized by the USAID’s Trade Central Asia (TCA) activity and is conducted in accordance with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Convention on Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW). The main objectives of the Convention are to enhance navigation safety, protect the marine environment, and ensure the welfare of seafarers.

Turkmenistan became a participant in the International STCW Convention in May 2009. This significant event demonstrates the country's commitment to maintaining high safety standards at sea and active participation in the global maritime community.
