On the Day of Knowledge and Student Youth, the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and UNICEF opened a Robotics Club at Secondary School No. 1 in the city of Arkadag. The club's goal is to inspire students to study science, technology, engineering, arts,and mathematics (STEAM) through hands-on learning and to serve as a model for other schools.

The newly established Robotics Club is fully equipped to simultaneously train 8-12 students, providing them with all necessary technical resources to learn, innovate and advance practical knowledge. The Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan recognizes the growing importance of STEAM education and actively promotes the creation of robotics clubs in schools across the country, fueled by the enthusiasm of students, parents and teachers.

STEAM subjects and robotics education have gained popularity worldwide, meeting the current demands of the labor market. STEAM education is also a focus of UNICEF in the Europe and Central Asia region, aiming to help children acquire the necessary knowledge and skills for the 21st century and to encourage more girls to participate in science and technology fields traditionally considered male-dominated.

According to Alexandru Nartea, Deputy Representative of UNICEF Turkmenistan, the opening of the robotics club in the city of Arkadag marks an important step in engaging young minds with the skills they will need in the future. STEAM education contributes to forming a generation that applies innovative approaches and is ready to confidently face the challenges of tomorrow.

Based on this, UNICEF is ready to support the Ministry of Education in developing a culture of innovation and learning through the launch of this Robotics Club, as well as in promoting STEAM education, which fosters self-discipline and teamwork, and improves time management, language skills and self-esteem.
