Turkmen athlete Davut Nazmyradov won the bronze medal at The 20th Asian Karate Championship that ended today in Hangzhou (China) WKF among adult athletes.

WKF is the English abbreviation for the name of the World Federation karate (World Karate Federation), which includes 200 countries, representing five continental federations. Today it is the only karate organization recognized by the International Olympic Committee and numbering more than one hundred million people.

In the championship held by the Asian Karate Federation (AKF), 356 best athletes from 30 countries participated, who competed not only medals in kata (strictly regulated exercises representing which are combinations of defense and attack techniques) and kumite (fights), but also tickets to the upcoming World Cup in Pamplona (Spain) in November.

As a ZV correspondent was told in the Karatedo Federation of Turkmenistan, our team at the Asian Championship was represented by 6 athletes, 3 judges, 2 coaches and the head of the delegation.

Davut Nazmyradov was awarded a bronze medal in kumite among men weight category up to 75 kg, in which 19 athletes competed for awards. On the way to this success, he won three victories.

In the first fight, a 4th year student at the Institute of International Relations the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan won against Phanit Sot (Cambodia) - 5:0, and in the second defeated Saif Addin Bani Taress (Jordan) – 9:5. In the semi-finals Davut lost to Kuvonchbek Muhammadiyev (Uzbekistan) – 0:3. Thanks to the exit Uzbekistani in the final D. Nazmyradov received the right to compete for bronze in consolation tournament, in which he prevailed over Ali Barnawi (Saudi Arabia) – 6:3 and rose to the third step of the podium.

The second bronze medal in this weight category was awarded to Gonche Bahman Asgari (Iran). Kuvonchbek Muhammadiev became the silver medalist (Uzbekistan), and the Asian champion is Nurkanat Azhikanov (Kazakhstan).

This is not the first success this year for a talented karateka at competitions for abroad. In May, D. Nazmyradov excelled at the 9th championship Central Asia in Samarkand, in August he was awarded a bronze medal at Asian championship among juniors under 21 in Manila. And now it has become bronze medalist of the adult Asian Championship!

Davut Nazmyradov began training in karate with Nazmammet Shatlykgulyev – coach of the 1st sports school of Balkanabat, Balkan velayat. He is currently improving his skills in the Turkmenistan national team under the guidance of the head coach, 5th dan black belt holder Aydin Charyeva.

Bronze medal won by a Turkmen karateka at the Asian Championship became a good gift to the Turkmen people for the celebration of September 27 Independence Day of the Fatherland. Over the 9 months of this year, athletes Karatedo Federation of Turkmenistan at competitions in the United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Spain, Philippines and China conquered 63 medals – a worthy result on the eve of the main state championship country holiday!
