On 24 November 2024, a scientific conference entitled “Fount of Wisdom - Magtymguly Fragi and Humanitarian Relations between China and Central Asia”, as well as the presentation of a new edition of 100 selected poems of Magtymguly Fragi in Chinese was held in the Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU). During the conference, the rector of BFSU Professor Jia Wenjian, as well as the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to China P.Durdiyev gave speeches along with renowned scholars.
The significance of Magtymguly Fragi’s work and his role in promoting friendly ties between countries and peoples was noted. Special emphasis was made on the new collection of poems of the great poet translated by Professor Dai Guiju of BFSU, of which 1,000 copies were printed under the auspices of the China Horse Industry Association and with the support of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in China.
The book, which begins with a statement by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, includes a foreword by Gaofeng Yue, Secretary-General of the China Horse Industry Association - recipient of jubilee medal “On the 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Fragi”, as well as articles by the Council of Scientists of the Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts named after Magtymguly of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan.
During the event, students studying at the Turkmen branch of BFSU recited poems of Magtymguly in Turkmen and Chinese. Then, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan and honoured guests held a presentation of the poet’s poetry collection published in Chinese.
In the framework of the conference, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan met with the Rector of BFSU, Professor Jia Wenjian, and discussed the expansion of cooperation between the universities of two countries with a focus on the study of Turkmen and Chinese languages, as well as the continuation of translation works on the of poems of Magtymguly Fragi in the framework of relevant programmes.
At the end of the meeting, the Turkmen diplomat presented to the Rector of BFSU the book of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov “Anev – Culture Originated in the Millennia”.
