The mention of Shatlyk town involuntarily endures in the 70s, when throughout the country spread news about Shatlyk gas field opening. It was the event, which determined the appearance of Shatlyk settlement on the map of Turkmenistan that were called the field the capital of gas workers by developers and operators.

Nowadays it is a city with a dynamically developing social and domestic infrastructure as part of the Oguzkhan etrap. The city’s glory today is multiplied not only by gas producers but also by the fellows who started their way in this city to the high performance sport. Some of them became champions of Turkmenistan and gained the right to compete in the name of our country in the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.

One of them is our story.

Back in the early 2000s, to attend sports sections, the children from Shatlyk had to travel to Mary. But not everyone had such an opportunity. Neither 10-year-old Azat Vemmiev, although very mobile and hard-knit, he showed good results in performing various exercises at school physical education classes. He liked to run a rice with his agemates and nobody managed to get around him. He had to run in the equipped stadium of the fire department. It was here where Nuryagdy Goshayev noticed him - the coach for children and youth sports school of the city of Mary. Here came the grown Azat with a firm intention to find himself in sport. Already the first classes allowed an experienced mentor to assess the opportunities of the young man. Nuryagda Goshayev's closer look at methods of training and physical activity on the athlete began giving the first results after three years. He was no longer equal in competitions set up in regions in the race for 400 meters.

These were the first victories. Sometimes got through overcoming: pain, fatigue, infractions. Azat's mother, Edzhebay-eje, supported her son teaching: how difficult the road is uphill, the joy of conquering the summit is so great.

In 2010, the first major success came to Azat - he became the champion of Turkmenistan in the 400m race. However, the first experience of international performances was unsuccessful. But Azat continued to train hard and try himself at a more difficult distance - 800 meters, where it is important for the athlete not only to endurance but also the ability correctly distribute the forces. Soon Azat became the champion of Turkmenistan and at 800-meter distance.

Then were performances in the national team at the Asian Championships in Japan, at international track and field tournaments in Iran and Kazakhstan, where was necessary to compete with the strongest. This tempered nature, helped to gain experience in sports rivalry. In 2016, at the international tournament of athletes in Ashgabat, which brought together runners from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan and Iran, Azat won the 800-meter distance first, becoming the winner of the tournament and the champion of Turkmenistan. The title of the best runner of the country Azat confirmed this year.

The athlete lives and trains in Ashgabat under the supervision of Baymyrat Ashyrmyradov. Nuryagdy Goshayev, the first mentor consults Azat in the period of active preparation for Games. Coaching tandem targets the athlete to the maximum concentration of will, technical skills and strengths to present honorable the country in the home Asian Games.
