Lecturers and students of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan completed a training course titled "Global Connections: Diplomatic Training in Politics, Culture and Economy of the UAE" at the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA). The course was organized with the support of the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Turkmenistan.
During the training, sessions were held on various topics, including Turkmenistan-UAE relations, climate change issues, and the cultural and economic prospects of the UAE. On the first day, representatives from Turkmenistan's higher school of diplomacy attended a lecture by Dr. Saeed Al Shamsi on the history and culture of the UAE. Moustafa Bayoumi, Research Fellow at AGDA, presented a report on climate change outcomes (COP Outcomes). Obaid Al Dhaheri, Head of Middle East Policy at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Dr. Sara Chehab, Senior Research Fellow at AGDA, spoke on UAE foreign policy and economic topics.
As part of the cultural program, guests from Turkmenistan visited historical sites and museums in Abu Dhabi. These unforgettable excursions allowed participants to discover the cultural diversity of the UAE. They were particularly impressed by visits to landmarks such as the Louvre Abu Dhabi, Qasr Al Watan Presidential Palace, and Qasr Al Hosn, which are linked to events that played a significant role in shaping the sovereign UAE and its rich culture.
With the participation of Ahmed Al-Hay Hamad Khamis Al-Hameli, UAE Ambassador to Turkmenistan, students also visited the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), where they received valuable information about current developments and prospects for trade relations between the UAE and Turkmenistan, as well as investment opportunities in the UAE.
The educational program not only expanded Turkmen students' knowledge of diplomatic protocol, politics, economy and culture of the UAE but also helped them develop intercultural communication skills. Participants expressed deep gratitude to the UAE Embassy in Turkmenistan and AGDA for organizing their visit to the UAE. Both sides confirmed their readiness to continue cooperation in education and diplomacy and to organize similar meetings in the future.
It is worth noting that active and fruitful cooperation has been established between the two institutions based on mutual interests and the Memorandum of Understanding signed in November 2022 between the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy.
