On December 27, 2024, the presentation ceremony of the collection of poems by the classic of Turkmen literature Magtymguly Fragi, published in Italian was held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. About this reports MFA of Turkmenistan.
The event was attended by representatives of the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, heads and representatives of domestic and foreign diplomatic services, faculty members and students of higher educational institutions, as well as mass media representatives.
The Rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Gulshat Yusupova, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Italian Republic Toyly Komekov, Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Italian Republic in Turkmenistan Carmelo Leo, Academic Secretary of the Magtymguly Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts of the Academy of Sciences Kakajan Janbekov, People’s Artist of Turkmenistan Saragt Babayev and teachers of higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan gave speeches during the presentation. Also during the event, an address of the lecturer of UNINT University of the International Studies of Rome Ivan Melkumyan was heard via videoconference.
It was emphasized in the speeches at the presentation that the publication of the collection of poems of the outstanding poet in Italian is another evidence of Turkmen-Italian friendship and will serve to strengthen the fruitful bilateral cultural-humanitarian cooperation. In addition, the collection will give an opportunity to familiarize a wide audience of readers with the works of Magtymguly Fragi.
The participants noted that the poems of Magtymguly Fragi, which have entered the golden fund of spiritual culture of mankind, are heard today in many languages of the world. Translations provide foreign readers with an opportunity to get acquainted with the philosophical thought of the master of world literature, serving as a key to understanding the ideas of the poet, who praises in his poems the love for the Motherland, peace-loving, striving for friendship and unity.
It was emphasized that the collection of 130 poems by the master of word was translated into Italian by Italian orientalists with the consultative support of scientists from the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan.
Quoting the beautiful poetic lines of the poet in Italian, the speakers noted that all the works of this true patriot of homeland are literally penetrated with the ideas of creating a sovereign state, becoming a hymn to freedom and unity of the Turkmen people.
In conclusion, the participants of the presentation ceremony expressed their confidence that translating the poems of the classic of Turkmen literature Magtymguly Fragi into foreign languages will contribute to wider familiarization of the world community with the poet’s works, reveal the depth and uniqueness of his skills, as well as strengthen overall the friendly relations and mutual understanding between nations, which is an important factor in promoting the culture of peace and trust in the world.
