The head of state gave a speech at an extended meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan on October 5.
"Today we sum up the results of the work of the national economy branches over the past 9 months," President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said.
As before, we pursued a foreign policy based on a firm commitment to the principles of neutrality, peace, good-neighborliness and mutually beneficial cooperation.
These days our foreign policy considered as an integral part of regional and international stability, as an effective instrument for establishing fruitful interstate relations in Central Asia and beyond, creating an atmosphere of trust and good-neighborly relations.
We conduct our domestic policy in accordance with the approved development programs of the country, which envisage the establishing of a modern industrial infrastructure, large processing enterprises, the implementation of measures for the production of import-substituting products, the increase in exports and developing of the electronic industry.
In accordance with the Presidential Program, today, as before, extensive investments assigned to solve social issues, as well as to build new and upgrade existing enterprises. In general, the volume of such investments is almost 40 billion manat.
It is observed active work to increase the energy-producing capacities operating on natural gas. We successfully continue the implementation of major international and domestic projects. A large-scale work is carried out to develop and equip oil and gas fields, build new gas pipelines, sports facilities, airports, roads and bridges.
The construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India highway and other gas arteries is being carried out at an accelerated pace. Thus, creating a powerful industrial and transport infrastructure, we also ensure the long-term political and economic interests of our country.
Over the past period, 216 large facilities worth about 4 billion US dollars were commissioned in the country, as well as 1.5 million square meters of housing, including housing with enhanced comfort. Among the involved new buildings are hotels and recreational complexes, universities, medical centers, schools of general education, kindergartens and many other objects built in Ashgabat.
The results and reforms in agriculture have started being profitable. In the development of the national economy, entrepreneurs make a significant contribution. They selflessly work in various industries, implementing complex, large projects, not inferior in skill to foreign companies. The reform in respect of education, health care and science is continuing.
Thanks to these consistent measures, fundamental changes have taken place, ensuring reliable stability of our economy to various external risks, and the impact of the global economic crisis has diminished.
This allowed us to maintain high GDP growth, namely at around 6.4 percent, to increase industrial production, maintain a stable manat rate, lower prices for goods and services on the domestic market, and increase investment in the social sphere.
High-level events V Asian indoor and martial arts games conducted in Ashgabat were the most important event of this year. As is known, athletes from 65 countries of the world took part in 21 sports of these competitions.
Our athletes honorable presented the country at the Asian Games. Having won the greatest number of gold and silver medals, they won in the team event. This fact clearly demonstrates our significant achievements in the comprehensive development and resolution of social issues, experience in holding large-scale international events. The Games strengthened the international prestige of independent neutral Turkmenistan, its prestige in the world Olympic movement.
Tomorrow we commemorate Memorial Day. On Saturday, we will organize the Yovar in Anau on planting seedlings, in a solemn atmosphere we open the construction of "Türkmeniň ak öýi" to prepare for the Council of Elders here.
