On February 5, 2025, Turkmenistan hosted the eighth coordination meeting of the climate group of development partners. The meeting was organized at the UN Building in Ashgabat by the UNDP in Turkmenistan jointly with the British Embassy in Turkmenistan with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

Representatives of UN agencies, diplomatic missions and government departments discussed issues of strengthening partnerships, coordinating initiatives in the field of the country's transition to a low-carbon future.

The meeting provided a platform for discussion of development partners actions within the framework of the country’s climate agenda, including updated information on activities carried out as a result of the UN Global Conference on Climate Change.

The discussions also focused on the preparation and implementation of Turkmenistan's next nationally determined contribution, expansion of cooperation in combating climate change and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The Permanent Representative of the UNDP in Turkmenistan, Narine Saaakyan, noted that this meeting underlines the commitment of the UNDP to support Turkmenistan's climate ambitions. The organization will help accelerate progress towards a low-carbon future for Turkmenistan.
