Six clubs of the top league gathered for the tournament for the Turkmenistan Football Federation Cup, which started in the Ahal velayat.

The honourary trophy is contested by the teams «Arkadag», «Ahal», «Shagadam», «Nebitchi», «Merv» and «Ashgabat», which will determine the winner in games between themselves in one round.

All matches of the FFT Cup-2025 are held in the Babarap gengeshlik of the Gokdepe etrap.

In the opening match of the tournament, Turkmenbashy «Shagadam» and «Merv» from the city of Mary met. The teams went into the break with the score 2:0 in favor of «Merv». For the Mary team, Mukam Nazzyyev scored in the 22nd minute and Guvanch Berdimyradov in the 40th.

In the 58th minute, Musa Nurnazarov scored one goal. And in the 66th minute, «Shagadam» was left playing with a man down after Ionel Kosofana was sent off and could not avoid defeat.

In the next match, the two-time champion of Turkmenistan, «Arkadag», won a convincing victory over Balkanabat's «Nebitchi» -  4:1. Enver Annayev (3rd and 33rd minutes) and Didar Durdyyev (49th and 70th) each scored twice for Vladimir Bayramov's team. Myratdurdy Bayramov scored a consolation goal for the losers in the 30th minute.

In the final match of the game day, the vice-champion of Turkmenistan, «Ahal», defeated the «Ashgabat» team with some difficulty – 2:1. In the first half, the opponents exchanged goals – 1:1. Ashgabat responded to the accurate strike in the 5th minute by Mahtymberdi Berenov with an effective attack in the 26th minute, which was completed by Oraz Orazov. Yakupmuhammet Govshudov brought victory to «Ahal» 9 minutes before the end of regular time.

After the first round, the leadership with 3 points was taken by «Arkadag», «Ahal» and «Merv».

The Football Federation Cup will end on the 23rd of February.

For FC «Arkadag», this tournament is a good opportunity to properly prepare for the upcoming quarterfinal matches of the AFC Challenge League with Indian East Bengal on the 5th and 13th of March, and for other Turkmen teams, this is one of the stages of preparation for the 2025 Turkmenistan Championship starting in the spring.
