Representatives of the Lebap Chess School confidently claimed victory in the team standings at the recently concluded Turkmenistan Chess Championship in Ashgabat for boys and girls under 8, 10, and 12 years old. Organized by the Chess Federation in collaboration with the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of Turkmenistan, the tournament brought together more than 300 players from all velayats of the country and the capital. Participants competed in classical chess, rapid chess and blitz formats.
In three age categories, chess players from the eastern region of the country won a total of 26 medals (7 gold, 12 silver and 7 bronze). This achievement was the result of hard work by both the coaching staff and the young players. At previous national championships, students of the Lebap Chess School also occupied the top positions on the podium.
Second place went to the team from Mary velayat, whose athletes earned 12 medals (5 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze). Completing the top three were chess players from Ashgabat, who won a total of 9 medals (4 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze).
A pleasant feature of the tournament was a decision by the Chess Federation of Turkmenistan (CFT) to separately award children under six years old who participated outside of competition. This new initiative provided an excellent opportunity to encourage 18 young talents who were presented with gold, silver and bronze medals.
According to CFT, organizing this national championship was made possible thanks to support from various partners, including the "Readit" bookstore, "Küşt Älemi" Chess Academy, "Sypayy" company, "HIL-TM," "Belle" app, and others.
