Representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan visited Latvia. The visit was organized by the Border Management Assistance Program in Central Asia, funded by the European Union, for representatives of the customs services of Central Asian countries
The purpose of the visit is to get acquainted with the digitalization of customs procedures in the European Union for their further implementation into the national system.
Experts of the National Customs Administration of the Latvian State Revenues Service presented various aspects and decisions related to the “Unified window for export-import operations” of the European Union, changes in customs administration in connection with the development of electronic commerce, simplified procedures for declaring postal items, as well as the automation of import and export processes.
The participants studied the principles of automated risk analysis. They visited a number of import customs control points, the Riga Free Port and Riga Airport checkpoints. In the building of the national postal operator of Latvia, Latvian Post, delegates from Central Asia got acquainted with the processes of sorting and processing mail, exchanging data with customs authorities and automatic filing of declarations.
Earlier, experts from the European Union visited the countries of Central Asia, providing advisory support, sharing the experience of Latvia and the EU in the implementation, development and use of customs information systems.
