An organized campaign for breeding silkworms has begun in the Koytendag, Kerki, Hojambaz and Halach etraps, located in the east of the Lebap velayat.

The early start of this important season is due to the creation of favorable conditions for silkworm feeding, i.e. good weather conditions and early ripening of mulberry leaves. Silkworm breeding will soon begin in other parts of the region.

Experienced silkworm breeders in Lebap, who exceeded their contractual obligations last year, intend to produce 1,010 tons of cocoons this season from 27,656 boxes of cocoons – a valuable raw material for the domestic textile industry. This is almost half of the total number of cocoons produced in our country.

This season, in the velayat, along with imported varieties of silkworm, such varieties as "Lebap-1", "Lebap-2", "Dostluk-1", "Dostluk-2", "Turkmen" , "Ak Pile" will be grown. It should be noted that all the etraps of the eastern region of the country have carefully prepared for this important campaign. Currently, contracts have been concluded with about 23 thousand experienced silkworm breeders of the velayat, in all etraps of which are fully prepared for the season workshops for receiving and drying cocoons.

This will ensure uninterrupted receipt of products from tenants , as well as prompt determination of the quality of the cocoon, its storage and implementation of relevant work in accordance with agricultural technology standards. Regular care of mulberry trees in daykhan farms of all etraps of the velayat, complete preparation of areas where silkworms will be kept, regular visits of specialists from the production association "Lebapvelayatyupek" throughout the season and providing valuable advice to silkworm breeders, along with dedicated work cocoon breeders, give reason to believe that Lebap silkworm breeders will confidently achieve the high goals set before them this production year.
