The prospects for cooperation between Turkmenistan and Malaysia in the field of education were discussed on March 17 during a meeting of the Minister of Education Turkmenistan J. Gurbangeldiev with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Malaysia to Turkmenistan, Mr. Mohd Suhaimi bin Ahmad Tadjuddin.
Issues of higher education and vocational training, expansion of educational opportunities for young people, and further implementation of cooperation agreements were discussed at the meeting, aimed at sharing experiences and implementing educational programs.
As a vivid example of cooperation in the field of education between Turkmenistan and Malaysia highlighted the activities of Petronas in Turkmenistan. It was emphasized that the Petronas University of Technology provides high-quality education to Turkmen students.
In continuation of the dialogue, the parties put forward proposals on the development of new areas of cooperation between educational institutions of the two countries, as well as on the implementation of joint projects. Besides, the active participation of Malaysian university students in international Olympiads held in Turkmenistan was discussed. It was noted that Malaysian schoolchildren are invited to participate in the International Mathematical Olympiad among Schoolchildren, which will be held in Ashgabat.
It was also reported that as part of the development of partnership between the countries, plans have been prepared for the implementation of agreements signed at the end of last year.
The Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan has made a proposal to consider the possibility of providing scholarships for Turkmen students from the Malaysian Government. It was emphasized that the implementation of this initiative will contribute to further strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the field of education.
In turn, the Ambassador proposed to expand cooperation in the field of secondary vocational education and stressed that there are great opportunities for the development of educational ties between Turkmenistan and Malaysia.
At the end of the meeting, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in further developing cooperation and their intention to work together to implement new educational projects and initiatives.
