Turkmen schoolchildren took part in a competition dedicated to International Bird Day

At the State Museum of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan, the results of the contest “The World of Birds”, dedicated to the International Day of Birds, took place.

The competition organized by the Youth organization named after Makhtumkuli, together with the Society for the Protection of Nature of Turkmenistan in the framework of the international year of peace and trust, was held in February-March. The event was attended by schoolchildren of secondary schools of Ashgabat.

For a deeper immersion in the fascinating world of ornithology, researchers of the Department of Nature and Local History conducted excursions on the museum exhibition and organized a mobile exhibition in schools. This contributed to the improvement of teenagers' knowledge about birds.

The students studied the diversity of birds in Turkmenistan and got acquainted with their biology. The exhibition featured stuffed birds, their nests, eggs and artistic images. There were also sculptures and other exhibits dedicated to the feathered inhabitants of the country.

More than 700 students took part in the competition, 37 of whom won prizes. Representatives of environmental organizations, ornithologists and biology teachers gathered to congratulate the winners. The winners received certificates of honor and incentive prizes from the organizers.

International Bird Day is celebrated annually on April 1. This holiday is aimed at drawing attention to the problem of the disappearance of many bird species. In honor of this important environmental event, the State Museum of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan traditionally holds competitions and exhibitions.
