It was observed during Turkmen – Tajik talks that having considerable potential of trade and economic partnership the sides do not use completely. It was highlighted that Turkmenistan and Tajikistan have capabilities for expansion of the volumes of trade, investment, implementation of joint projects in different spheres as well for entering new perspective directions of cooperation.

In this relation, Turkmen side proposed to aim the work of Interstate Turkmen – Tajik Commission at finding of the ways for expansion of the product mix of supplies and increase of the volumes of export and import operation between Turkmenistan and Tajikistan. At the same time, study of the opportunities for exchange supplies of goods produced in Turkmenistan and Tajikistan as well as opening of Trade Representatives of both countries in Ashgabat and Dushanbe seem to be very topical.

Stating the understanding of the sides in the necessity of establishment of direct air flights between two states, Turkmen leader noted the appropriateness to request the leaders of civil aviation of Turkmenistan and Tajikistan to speed up the negotiations for coordination of the matters related with opening direct flights between Ashgabat and Dushanbe.

Business communities of two countries are to play more active and initiative role in expansion of trade, realization of investment projects, establishment of joint ventures and close cooperation in agriculture, processing industry and service sphere. Turkmen – Tajik forum held on November 1 was a good beginning for that. In this context, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov proposed the establishment of Turkmen – Tajik Business Council, which would promote steadfast development of bilateral trade and economic relations.
