Within the framework of the 2025 motto - "International Year of Peace and Trust", a concert "Dessançylyk sungaty parahatçylygyň ylham çeşmesi" was held in the hall of the "Taze Zaman" House of Culture of the Bagtyyarlyk etrap of Ashgabat with the participation of the best destan bakhshis, who came from all the velayats of our country. The initiator of the concert was the Department of Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan.
The concert program was opened by bakhshi from Ahal velayat Yalkap Durdymyradov accompanied by a dutarist Tachmuhammet Durdymyradov and gyjak player Rahman Shanazarov. The musicians performed an inspired excerpt from the destan "Alpamyş", causing a friendly applause from the audience.
It is noteworthy that the destan was widely spread among the bakhshis in the 60s of the last century in Mary and Lebap velayats.
"Alpamyş" is the name of a hero about whom legends on the themes of patriotism and love are composed. Now this destan is performed by bakhshis in all velayats. Moreover, in each velayat there are textual and performing differences. It is characteristic that "Alpamyş" is much older than the famous epic hero - Gorogly. Mentions of him are found in the 16th century.
Like many destans , "Alpamyş" is widespread in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. These countries have proposed to include the destan "Alpamyş" in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Turkmenistan has also joined this proposal.
Bakhshi of the Balkan velayat Yagmyrgeldi Hangeldiev accompanied by Akmyrat Shyhiev (dutar) and Ovezmyrat Begjikov (gyjak) performed a fragment from the destan “Saýyly we boýny ýogyn”. Hero of the destan Sayogly fell in love with a capricious girl and, taking part in the bakhshi competition, dedicated his performance to his beloved.
The concert program included the destans "Hüyrlukga-Hemra", "Şasenem-Garyp", "Görogly", "Ýusup-Ahmet", "Nejep oglan". Honored bakhshis of Turkmenistan Bibinur Ashyrova, Novruzguly Matniyazov, Sabur Saburov, Kerven Yovbazarov, as well as Kerim Annakuliyev and Akmyrat Yakubov presented their performing skills in conveying to the audience the ancient but unfading art of destan bakhshi. The audience in the hall received each performance of the bakhshi with great interest.
The concert ended with a song based on the words of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov "Тürkmenistan – parahatlygyň we ynanyşmagyn Watany". All the musicians of the concert took part in its performance. The audience stood up to receive this performance, which was related to the motto of 2025.
As a sign of sincere recognition for the preservation of folk art, each participant in the concert received a valuable gift from the Ministry of Culture and the National Center of Trade Unions of Turkmenistan.
