16-year-old Turkmen judoka Oguljan Ruslanova won a bronze medal at the Berlin Millennium Team Cadet European Cup 2025, which ended in Germany. The 11th-grader from Secondary School №61 in the Charjev etrap of the Lebap velayat achieved this success in the 70 kg weight category, in which 39 athletes from 16 countries competed for the awards.
On her way to the podium, Oguljan won five victories. In the first round, she defeated Svenja Keding (Germany), then defeated Leni Welter (Luxembourg), Alesya Vincelovica (Latvia), and Lara Katharina Malchak (Germany). In the semi-finals, O. Ruslanova lost to the Frenchwoman Alexandra Geoffroy, and in the fight for 3rd place, she won over Victoria Yurtsikova (Czech Republic) and rose to the third step of the podium. Another bronze medal went to Gulsezim Turlybek (Kazakhstan). The silver medal was awarded to Alexandra Geoffroy (France). And the winner of the tournament was Giorgia Grassi (Italy).
This is the first serious success of the talented young judoka from the Lebap velayat in international competitions. Oguljan Ruslanova has been practicing judo since she was 10 years old. She began to learn the basics of this Olympic sport from Gayratjan Zaripov. Currently, she trains under the guidance of Ayna Zaripova.
