As in the previous year, the country's cocoon and silkworm producers intend to procure and deliver to the state more than two thousand tons of valuable products. Today, sericulture in Turkmenistan is one of the promising sectors of the domestic textile industry, the products of which are in high demand both on the domestic and world markets. All conditions are being created in the country for the progressive development of the domestic textile industry, the conscientious and fruitful work of workers in the industry, including cocoon producers and sericulturists.
The key to the rise of this ancient folk craft is the reforms launched in the agro-industrial complex and comprehensive programs for the transformation of regions, aimed at the formation of qualitatively new socio-economic relations in the countryside.
As for the Balkan velayat, in its special nurseries and in a number of daykhan associations, thousands of mulberry bushes are grown annually, the leaves of which are the food base for silkworm caterpillars, which makes it possible to significantly increase the amount of mulberry leaves collected, which the caterpillars feed on.
At the beginning of the season, silkworm breeders of the Magtymguly, Gyzylarbat and Bereket etraps distributed more than 680 boxes of silkworm eggs in accordance with their contracts. Proper organization of labor, appropriate conditions for silkworm care — temperature conditions, humidity and lighting levels, as well as air exchange in nurseries, allows tenants to be confident in fulfilling their production obligations.
In addition, the key to the success of the velayat’s silkworm breeders is their diligent hard work and professional skills.
