On May 14, the Genetics Olympiad organized by the Turkmen Agricultural University named after S.A.Niyazov was held among high school students in Ashgabat and Arkadag.

The Council of Young Scientists of the University and the Department of Agriculture of the Agronomy Faculty of the University took an active part in organizing the competition.

The Olympiad was held in the form of an individual competition, during which students demonstrated their knowledge, talents and abilities. The participants were offered 50 tasks on genetics and 60 minutes to complete them. Each task was rated on a scale from 1 to 5 points, depending on its difficulty. The capabilities of the digital system were effectively used during the competition and summing up its results.

The winners and prize winners of the competition, who scored the highest number of points at the end of the competition, were awarded diplomas of the corresponding degrees from the TAU named after S.A. Niyazov in a ceremonial setting.

The competition was aimed at professional orientation of schoolchildren, improving the quality of their training in the field of genetics and biotechnology, and consolidating the knowledge and skills acquired during theoretical and practical training.

The olympiad was held as part of the activities to implement the State program for the comprehensive development of biotechnology in Turkmenistan for 2024–2028 and the concept for improving the teaching of natural and exact sciences in Turkmenistan.
