The Minister of Education of Turkmenistan took part in the first meeting of Ministers of Education in the Central Asia–China format, held from May 11 to 13 in Urumqi.
The meeting discussed the most important aspects and prospects for the development of bilateral and multilateral educational cooperation between the countries of Central Asia and China.

The Minister of Education of Turkmenistan J. Gurbangeldiyev noted the importance of regular meetings in the exchange of experience and best practices in the field of educational technologies, including digital education, artificial intelligence and information and communication technologies.
The Minister stressed that in the context of the rapid development of technology, it is necessary to continue close cooperation with the countries.
The Central Asian region and China, which has traditionally been an important partner in the field of education. Gurbangeldiyev also stressed that within the framework of strategic cooperation between Turkmenistan and China, exchanges of teachers and students, as well as joint scientific and educational projects. In particular, there are more than a thousand students in 9 universities of the country, as well as 5,700 Schoolchildren from 10 schools in Turkmenistan study Chinese. The mutual participation of the parties in international Olympiads and cultural events that take place in Turkmenistan and China contributes to the strengthening of humanitarian ties between the countries.
During the meeting, topics related to the creation of teacher training programs, conducting joint scientific research, improving the training of young professionals, the introduction of advanced educational technologies, and others were discussed.
A bilateral meeting of the Ministers of Education was held during the visit. Turkmenistan and China. During the conversation, issues of joint teacher training, learning Chinese in Turkmenistan, as well as expanding cooperation in the field of vocational and higher education were discussed. The sides also exchanged views on the continuation of work on the development of Chinese grants and exploring the possibilities of creating Turkmen-Chinese artificial intelligence laboratories. In addition, information about the ongoing the process of selecting 100 young citizens of Turkmenistan to study under bachelor's degree programs in higher educational institutions of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China.
The first meeting of the Ministers of Education in the "Central Asia" format – China" has become an important event that has defined new ways of developing and deepening educational cooperation between the states. At the end of the event, the mechanisms for holding further meetings were identified for the future expansion and strengthening of productive cooperation between the participating countries.
